The foundation stone of the first house in the Liverpool Garden Suburb (No.13 Wavertree Nook Road) was laid 90 years ago: on 20th July 1910. Not many people will remember that event! ... but we know that a number of people have lived in the Garden Suburb all their lives and took part in the community activities and festivities that were a regular feature of the area before the war. We shall be gathering together and displaying a collection of photos, memorabilia, programmes, etc., which should be of interest to old and new residents alike - and, indeed, to anyone interested in the history of the area. The event, which might also be a chance to meet up with old neighbours and friends, will take place at the Wavertree Garden Suburb Institute,
Thingwall Road, on Sunday 23rd July between 2 and 4 pm.

IF YOU HAVE ANY INTERESTING ITEMS ... please let us know. Understandably some photos and documents will be quite precious to you and, as people might be keen to look at and handle them, it would be a good idea to get them copied. If you would like us to do this for you, please contact Mrs Sheilagh Birch, 338 Wavertree Nook Road. That way, you would not need to bring the originals along with you on the day.
