Our next meeting

An illustrated talk by Pauline Hurst
on Wednesday 29th March, 7.30 p.m. at the
Olive Mount Community Centre, Edgewell Drive, Liverpool L15 8GG

Beechams was a multi-million pound industry, based in St Helens but spreading across the world. Pauline Hurst will explain how, from the very outset, the family's innovative advertising campaign was a key factor in its success. "WORTH A GUINEA A BOX" was the slogan used by Beechams for many years.

The family had an interesting and sometimes controversial history. Pauline will talk about the extrovert Thomas Beecham, the founder of the business, his son Sir Joseph Beecham, twice mayor of St Helens, and grandson Sir Thomas Beecham, the conductor. Advertising memorabilia will be available to view.

All welcome  -  Admission free  -  Donations invited
